DDS

DDS is an acronym for Digital Data Storage. DDS is the standard for Digital Audio Tape (DAT) formats.

DDS formats include:

  1. DDS-1 90 meter tape providing 2Gb storage (4Gb compressed) 0.6 MB/s storage speed
  2. DDS-2 120 meter tape providing 4Gb storage (8Gb compressed) 0.6 MB/s storage speed
  3. DDS-3 125 meter tape providing 12Gb storage (24Gb compressed) 1.1 MB/s storage speed
  4. DDS-4 150 meter tape providing 20Gb storage (40Gb compressed) 2.4 MB/s storage speed
  5. DAT 72 170 meter tape providing 36Gb storage (72Gb compressed) 3.5 MB/s storage speed
  6. DAT 160 (under development) 80Gb storage (160Gb compressed) 5 MB/s storage speed
