Digital Snooping

Digital snooping is the process of monitoring a private or public network for passwords or data. This attack is at the network layer. The attacker normally uses a program to watch and/or record data as it is transmitted across a network. If encrypted or encoded data is captured and recorded the attacker may try to decrypt the data and read it using a variety of decoding techniques including a dictionary attack against passwords, brute force attacks, and other cryptoanalysis techniques.
