HTML Title Element

The HTML title element is used to set the title of the HTML document. The HTML title element is required inside the HTML head element and should only occur once. The text between the <title> and </title> tags is the title of the document. The content of the title includes plain text along with entities but should not contain other HTML markup or elements. Entities are methods of referring to special characters such as the greater than sign (> using &gt;), less than sign (< using &lt;), quote mark (" using &quot;), ampersand (& using &amp;) to mention a few.
